Delta Council Directors Meet THE DELTA COUNCIL Midyear Board of Directors meeting was held on Friday, November 17, 2000, on the Delta State University campus in Cleveland. Mark Keenum, chief of staff for Senator Thad Cochran, was the featured speaker at the meeting and he discussed the outlook for the new Congress and agricultural legislative issues. In addition to Keenum's talk, the Delta Council Board of Directors passed the organization's policy resolutions and updated directors and guests on current activities. In addition, several Deltans were recognized for their achievements and presented framed resolutions by Delta Council Chairman Curt Presley of Clarksdale. Dr. Tom Army, retiring head of USDA-ARS Mid-South Research Center in Stoneville, was recognized for his invaluable contributions in strengthening USDA-ARS research in the Delta during his tenure. Frank Gwin of Tchula was recognized for his contributions as coordinator of the water quality enhancement project MSEA. Scott Coopwood of Cleveland was recognized for his contributions to the Delta business climate through his Delta Business Journal. Denise Lindsey of Leland was recognized for her long and dedicated service to the Delta Council staff upon her retirement from the organization
