Chemtura Corporation has announced the acquisition of the Trace Chemicals business from Bayer CropScience. “Trace Chemicals is a leader in grower-applied seed treatments. With this acquisition, Chemtura will be able to apply the benefits of its global experience to an important and growing segment of the seed treatment business, ‘downstream’ crop protection via the seed,” says Mike McFatrich, global seed treatment product manager, Chemtura Corporation.
“Our experience in seed treatments in the United States and around the globe, as the originator of Vitavax, will allow us to offer growers a choice in seed amendments and flexibility in the way that the protection is obtained. Being backed by Chemtura's commitment to technology will enhance product choices for growers and those who serve growers' seed treatment needs.
Key products in the portfolio include the following, which will continue to be sold under the Trace Chemicals brand name:
Latitude — A hopper box seed treatment which contains Imidacloprid and Vitavax for insect and disease protection on corn, sweet corn and popcorn.
Prevail — A planter-applied fungicide seed treatment combining Allegiance, Terraclor and Vitavax for cotton, peanuts, barley, oats, rye, wheat, rice, corn, beans and soybeans.
Stiletto — A flowable soybean fungicide for convenient “on-farm” application of seed protection.
