Bumpers Rice Research Center sets open house

AN OPEN HOUSE July 21 will showcase research at the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center near Stuttgart, Ark. The event will be part of the 50th anniversary celebration of USDA's Agricultural Research Service and will mark the sixth year since the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center opened.

At the open house, which will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres following, will be presentations of the center's research program scope and goals, with emphasis on problem-solving, outcomes, and public benefits.

The program will emphasize the newest research results from the center, including development of improved germplasm and application of molecular technologies to solution of important problems facing the U.S. rice industry.
