Biodiesel workshop Aug. 27

People who want to learn more about biodiesel are invited to an Aug. 27 workshop at the Rayville Civic Center in Rayville, La.

Hosted by the LSU AgCenter, the workshop starts at 8 a.m. and will end at noon.

Bill Carney, LSU AgCenter environmental educator, will give an illustrated talk on biodiesel production.

Others on the program are Gary Breitenbeck, LSU AgCenter School of Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences, who will provide an overview of bioenergy, and Don Boquet, LSU AgCenter Macon Ridge Research Station, who will discuss feedstocks for biodiesel production.

“There is a lot of interest in making biodiesel,” Carney said. “There are also scams out there. We’ll help people sort through what’s research-based and what works and doesn’t work.”

The workshop is free. For more information, contact Cynthia Pilcher at (318) 435-2903, or cpilcher@agcenter.lsu.edu.

More information about biodiesel production is on the LSU AgCenter’s Web site. Go to www.lsuagcenter.com and search for biodiesel.
