Bayer's Ricestar HT herbicide registered

BAYER CROPSCIENCE'S Ricestar HT herbicide has been registered for use. Like original Ricestar, new Ricestar HT provides postemergence control of annual grass weeds in rice when applied pre-flood.

Ricestar HT goes one step further, offering rice growers the added benefit of more-consistent performance on larger grasses.

Its weed control spectrum includes barnyardgrass, broadleaf signalgrass, fall panicum, johnsongrass and sprangletop.

In recent greenhouse trials, University of Arkansas professor and Extension weed specialist Ken Smith documented positive results after applying Ricestar HT to three-leaf rice.

“When applied at a 17-ounce rate, Ricestar HT demonstrated good crop safety in the greenhouse,” Smith says. “It will be a good tool for rice growers.”

Ricestar HT should be applied at a rate of 17 ounces per acre.

Like its predecessor, Ricestar HT provides tank-mix flexibility with herbicides such as Aim, Command, Facet, Permit and others. Consult the label for specific tank-mix recommendations.
