“Dan Barolo has a distinguished record of public service, and is well known in the agricultural community,” said Bergeson. “Dan was director of OPP from 1994 to 1998, where he was responsible for the management and direction of the nation’s pesticide programs. As director, Dan managed a budget of more than $125 million and directed over 900 employees.”
Prior to 1994, Dan was director of the Special Review and Re-registration Division within OPP. In the 10 years before joining EPA, Dan served as director of the Division of Water, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Immediately prior to directing the State’s water office, Dan served as associate director, Air Pollution Control Program, Division of Air Resources, NYSDEC, among other positions. He has a Master of Science degree and a bachelor of engineering degree from Vanderbilt University.
According to Ms. Bergeson, Dan will advise clients on a wide range of environmental matters, with particular emphasis on pesticide and public health issues.
“Dan’s extraordinary understanding of the federal pesticide registration and re-registration programs, and how these programs relate to state regulatory programs, is unparalleled,” said Ms. Bergeson. “Dan’s in-depth knowledge of the pesticide registration programs is a perfect complement to Jim Aidala’s strategic and policy skills. These two EPA veterans make an unbeatable team, and we are very pleased to have them working with us and our clients.”
