Aventis and Bayer Define herbicide: Corn in 2001

AVENTIS CROPSCIENCE and Bayer Corporation have introduced Define — a pre- herbicide for corn — for the 2001 use season. Define will be marketed as a joint sales effort by both companies.

“Define provides corn growers excellent control of foxtails and most problem grasses plus activity on some key small-seeded broadleaf weeds such as waterhemp,” says Scott Welge, corn market manager, Bayer. “This new chemistry offers good crop safety and can control grasses and broadleaf weeds resistant to certain herbicides.”

“Define mixed with Balance or followed by Liberty herbicide will give corn growers the weed control program they have been asking for at an economical price,” says Rob Schrick, Aventis product lead.

Define is formulated as a dry flowable product. It will be packaged in two 25-pound containers per case and in Accu-Bin bulk delivery systems. Each 25-pound container treats between 20 and 40 acres.

Define has the flexibility to be used in any tillage system. Define also can be used as the foundation product in any sequential program.

The active ingredient in Define is flufenacet, already a proven performer found in Bayer products such as Epic and Axiom.
