2014 High Cotton Award Winners

Delta Winner — Kenneth Hood, Gunnison, Miss.

Gunnison, Miss., cotton producer Kenneth Hood has made numerous contributions to the U.S. cotton industry, as a leader, entrepreneur and farmer. For these efforts and his dedication to environmental stewardship, Hood has been awarded the 2014 High Cotton Award for the Delta States by Farm Press Publications.

 

Southeast Winner — Danny Darnell, Hillsboro, Ala.

Danny Darnell, who farms in north Alabama's Tennessee Valley, has been named the Southeast High Cotton Award winner for 2013. Darnell farms with his sons, Jared and Heath.

 

Southwest Winner — Steven Beakley, Ennis, Texas

Steven Beakley strives to produce the best cotton feasible while conserving as much soil and moisture as possible on the Ellis County farm he works with his father, Bob. That commitment was instrumental in earning him the 2014 Farm Press/Cotton Foundation High Cotton Award for the Southwest Region.

 

Far West Winner — Clyde Sharp, Roll, Ariz.

For the service to cotton and agriculture as a whole — plus the fact he’s a top-notch cotton grower and steward of the land — Clyde Sharp has been named the Far West Farm Press/Cotton Foundation High Cotton award winner for 2014.
